Did someone mention moving house?

Well, aren't you all just wonderful! Thank-you so much for all your comments, messages and emails. What a privilege it is to be part of such a supportive global community and how kind of you all to offer so much care and wisdom.
Now, just to put your minds at rest a bit... Have I been slaving away over packing cases? Oh no. There has been cake!
Grandma had her bi-annual Open Garden Day fundraiser so we baked, and iced and baked some more! Grandma made pretty pink fudge...
 and zingy green Turkish Delight
My oh my there were treats galore to take my mind off of those packing cases!
Back home there was the 'View from here' to distract me. I have been recording this view nearly every month for over two years now. The recording of it serves little purpose other than to amuse me, but that's enough! Over the last 13 years I have wasted hours looking at this view from the kitschen window. Recording it makes me notice what could be taken for granted.
And the packing? Well, four wonderful men turned up today and, as if by magic, within hours anything that did not move was popped into a box! The beautiful boy was still asleep when the packers arrived and I did find myself checking he hadn't been popped into a big box too!
Books vanished from shelves....
Furniture and textiles were swept away....
Everything started to look a lot less like home.....
And the kitschen? Well the china was gone in no time leaving just the English Rose in all it's glory.....
We have one more sleep and then early in the morning the men will be back with their lorries to take us to our new home. A much smaller cottage, one ready for builders and therefore not one for all our boxes which will need to be safely stored until we are ready for them. So, we have a camp kitchen packed for the long summer break....
Bye bye old house.... we have been very lucky to live here and we know the new owners will be happy here.
I shall have no Broadband for a while and so there will be a pause before I show you where we're going.....I'll be back as soon as I can!
Now, did someone mention cakes?
Have one whilst I'm gone. It's the least I can do! t.x

Goodness me, reading this and seeing the pictures brought a lump to my throat & a brick to my tummy.........I can so remember the same scenes 28 years ago when I was an only child watching my parents divide up, pack up & go separate ways. What a brave, touching post. Wishing you & your son lots of new happy memories in your new home :o)

Continued good wishes to you on your move.

What is pink fudge? When time permits, I would love to have the answer.

The cake looks very tempting.

The various views look like views that I'd want to take along in my memories.

Having professional movers take care of moving is a very wise idea. Cheers.

Your new cottage sounds wonderful, and how exciting to have builders in to make it just how YOU want it. It will be just perfect once it is all finished and all YOURS - it's a great feeling I can assure you, and you soon forget the upheaval.

How wonderful to have 'men' in to do all the packing for you - brilliant.

Wishing you every happiness in your new home
